Phaenopharos khaoyaiensis
Found in Asia, bud wing stick insects are herbivores, only eating leaves. We feed ours bramble and a little eucalyptus foliage.
- In adult form they survive for about 1 year.
- Eggs take 10 months to develop.
- Adults reach around 20 centimetres.
- Habitat being rainforest.
- Nocturnal insect.
Crazy Fact
Their name 'bud wing' refers to the little buds around the middle of their body which can open to show bright red wings. The display is thought to attract a mate.
