European Stork

European White Stork
Ciconia ciconia

Found in southern Europe and Africa. White storks are carnivores and in the wild feed on fish, frogs and insects but will occasionally hunt rodents and birds. In captivity we feed a varied diet of dead fish, mice and chicks.

Crazy fact

European white storks in mythology are thought to bring babies to new parents cradled in a blanket under their bill, this probably came about because they like to nest on chimney breasts and on top of buildings in urban areas.
