Found in Tanzania and Kenya in Africa, pancake tortoises are herbivores eating grasses and weeds. In captivity we feed them on a diet of kale, lettuce, tomatoes, carrot, cucumber, squash, etc and also some natural plants such as clover and dandelions.

Crazy fact

Unlike other tortoises, pancake tortoises have soft shells. When threatened by predators they will use this soft shell to wedge themselves between rocks and puff up their body to fit the gap so that the predator can’t remove them.
